Strusshamn is a well protected harbour. Strusshamn was used as a quarantine port for Bergen during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Marine archeological finds from the 17th century and mooring rings in several places around the harbour area, indicate that Strusshamn was an important port.
A mill was constructed at the beginning of 1800, and this was converted to a shoddy factory in 1909.
Strusshamn today is a centre for several associations and organisations, e.g. marine associations, museum associations.
