Harbour is in lee of Børsheims-holmen.
Bakka used to be an important junction for the Strandebarm region. There were steamers arriving, shops and bakery. Doctor, midwife, bank, postoffice, court house and police. All this is now gone - the shop has been moved to Tangerås, 2 km further in.

Today, it is the marina that colours the harbour environment. Many a visitor has experienced the good, steady "hardinga-tranquility" that prevails over the strait.
